Clews Views: Sick Of It All
By Chris Clews, June 6, 2006

For those that didn’t already know, politicians on the left and the right have proudly pronounced that they are above the law. Now most of us were already aware of the corruption and high crimes that are part of the daily agenda for most on Capitol Hill, but it was the arrogance with which Dennis Hastert and others announced that they were absolutely, unequivocably, without a doubt, above the law.

In case you missed it, Rep. William Jefferson (D-La.) was busted after a year long investigation into alleged bribery for the benefit of friends and family. During a legal search of his home the FBI found $90,000 in marked bills wrapped and stashed in his freezer. Marked you say? Oh yes! You see, Mr. Jefferson was video taped accepting $100,000 in $100 bills from an FBI informant. The decision to search his office was partly based on his refusal to comply with a subpoena for documents last summer.

So let’s see if I understand this properly – someone is videotaped accepting marked bills as payment for a bribe, he then refuses to answer a subpoena from the FBI who then finds $90,000 of the $100,000 in marked bills stashed in his freezer at home. Based on this information, the FBI secures a search warrant for said person’s office where they find even more incriminating evidence in files and documents.

And our House Speaker, Dennis Hastert, had this to say, “We think those materials ought to be returned,” adding that the FBI agents involved, “ought to be frozen out of the case just for the sake of the constitutional aspects of it.”

This is where my head explodes into tiny pieces.

Hey Dennis, just come out and say it – you commoners out there, you average Americans of average intellect (at least compared to us, your faithful, elected servants) will just have to deal with it because we are more powerful and smarter than you.

I’ve had it with this crap – I really have. I guess we all know what’s next. Some drug dealer is going to keep his weed, coke and cash in his “home office” so when the FBI searches his home and arrests him on overwhelming evidence, his attorney can claim that the search was unconstitutional. All evidence found in his “home office” must be returned and cannot be used as evidence – hey, all men are created equal right? This is just unbelievable.

Wouldn’t it be fun to give the Justice Department a “blank check” to search and seize in any office on Capitol Hill? Since, it’s apparently a legal hiding place for evidence of crimes what do you think we could find? Hmmm, let’s make a list:

Robert Byrd’s office – a freshly used noose and KKK Grand Wizard Robe
Hillary Clinton’s office – Vince Foster’s “suicide” weapon and an old cigar
Ted Kennedy’s office – waterlogged female skeleton
Dennis Hastert’s office – apparently quite a bit more than previously thought
Cynthia McKinnie’s office – that videotape of her alleged assault on a Capital Hill police officer that conveniently disappeared
Joe Biden’s office – any number of forged and plagiarized documents
Barney Frank’s office – bootlegged copies of Brokeback Mountain
Harry Reid’s office – lots and lots and lots of free event tickets sitting right next to tax free cigarettes from the reservation
Howard Dean’s office – nothing. As long as he is the DNC chairman, let’s make sure he stays at his post. Better for us.

And I think it is fair to say that in every Senator’s office, we would find at least one illegal immigrant doing a “job Americans won’t do”. Now I understand why the illegals feelings and rights are more important than ours – got it!

In the words of the great Edmund Burke – “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” We can do something – vote these bums out of office for good! Nah, that probably won’t work either – after all, if they don’t like the results, they can always ask for a recount in the comfort of their congressional office. Then, they’ll always get the outcome they desire.
